November 2023 Update
Autumn Meeting – Approximately 80 members attended the meeting on the 25th October and received an interesting and informative update from Keith Betton (Chair of the Hampshire Ornithological Society) on the “Birds around Hartley Wintney”.
Councillor Chris Cornwell also gave a short update on the plans for the renovation and cleanup of the Causeway Farm, Hattens and Dilly Lane ponds. The aim is to renovate all 3 in rotation and it is hoped that the work can commence during December.
We are grateful to all presenters and Heritage Society members for supporting the Society and contributing to its success.
Planning is now underway for our Spring 2024 meeting which will be held on May 8th 2024.
Front Garden Awards 2023
The winners of the 2023 front garden awards were announced at our Autumn meeting.Our thanks go to Barbara Smee and her team of judges who have spent much time walking around the village looking for beautiful eye-catching gardens.
Best Front Garden - EKO House, Brackley Avenue
Best Small Front Garden - 3 Mildmay Terrace
The eight finalists all received a signed certificate and photo of their gardens and the two winners also received an engraved garden trowel.

October 2023 Update
Autumn Members’ meeting Wednesday, 25th October at 7.30 pm - Victoria Hall (Doors open 7.00 pm). Following our successful and well attended AGM and Spring meeting, we look forward to welcoming you to our Autumn meeting to hear a presentation from Keith Betton on
“Birds around Hartley Wintney”
Keith has been the County Bird Recorder in Hampshire since 2010 and is currently Chair of the Hampshire Ornithological Society. He is a keen world traveller having seen nearly 8600 species in over 100 countries. A past trustee of both the RSPB and British Trust for Ornithology, he has also chaired The Ornithological Society of the Middle East and the African Bird Club – and is Vice President of the latter. We are very privileged to have Keith as our guest speaker and look forward to seeing you at our meeting.
We will also be announcing the winners of our annual Front Garden Awards at the meeting and our thanks go to everyone who has helped over the last few months with this event.
The meeting also provides an opportunity to join the Society on the night and to hear updates on current Heritage Society and other village activities. By becoming a member will allow you to view all of our annual Journals from 1983 and have access to our historical village pictures.

August 2023 Update

Front Garden Awards - Judging for this annual award has taken place and we look forward to being advised of the results in due course. There will be prizes for small and larger front gardens which will be announced at the Society’s Autumn meeting on 25 October.
We have been delighted by the response to the recently published "Then and Now" books are are very pleased to announce that the profit of £600 from the sales of the books has now been donated to the Hartley Wintney Voluntary Care Group.

The Heritage Society 2023 Journal is full of interesting articles and if you would like a professionally printed copy, these are available at £2.50 each and can be ordered (along with all other Society published books) using the PUBLICATIONS tab above.

July 2023 Update
Hartley Wintney Festival - Thank you to those members who helped out at the Society’s stall at the village festival on June 10th and to the many members of the public that visited us. We hope you took the opportunity to talk to the committee and look at the information on display and we are very grateful to those new members who joined on the day.
Front Garden Awards - Judging for this is now taking place with judges walking around the whole of Hartley Wintney village selecting the most attractive and enchanting front gardens. There will be prizes for small and large front gardens which will be announced at the Society’s Autumn meeting.
The Heritage Society 2023 Journal has been distributed to members by email. If you would prefer a professionally printed copy, these are available at £2.50 each and can be ordered (along with any other Society published book) from our website.
