September 2023 Update
Autumn Meeting – Wednesday, 25 October – We look forward to welcoming you at the Victoria Hall to hear a presentation from Keith Betton on the “Birds around Hartley Wintney”. Doors will open at 7.00 pm.
Keith has been the County Bird Recorder in Hampshire since 2010 and is currently Chair of the Hampshire Ornithological Society. He is a keen world traveller having seen nearly 8600 species in over 100 countries. A past trustee of both the RSPB and British Trust for Ornithology, Keith has also chaired The Ornithological Society of the Middle East and the African Bird Club – and is Vice President of the latter.
We are very privileged to have Keith as our guest speaker and look forward to seeing you at our meeting. Non members can join on the night.
Front Garden Awards - Judging for this annual award has now concluded and the overall winners will be announced in our October meeting. We very much appreciate the help of everyone who has been involved in the judging over the last few months.

August 2023 Update

Front Garden Awards - Judging for this annual award has taken place and we look forward to being advised of the results in due course. There will be prizes for small and larger front gardens which will be announced at the Society’s Autumn meeting on 25 October.
We have been delighted by the response to the recently published "Then and Now" books are are very pleased to announce that the profit of £600 from the sales of the books has now been donated to the Hartley Wintney Voluntary Care Group.

The Heritage Society 2023 Journal is full of interesting articles and if you would like a professionally printed copy, these are available at £2.50 each and can be ordered (along with all other Society published books) using the PUBLICATIONS tab above.

July 2023 Update
Hartley Wintney Festival - Thank you to those members who helped out at the Society’s stall at the village festival on June 10th and to the many members of the public that visited us. We hope you took the opportunity to talk to the committee and look at the information on display and we are very grateful to those new members who joined on the day.
Front Garden Awards - Judging for this is now taking place with judges walking around the whole of Hartley Wintney village selecting the most attractive and enchanting front gardens. There will be prizes for small and large front gardens which will be announced at the Society’s Autumn meeting.
The Heritage Society 2023 Journal has been distributed to members by email. If you would prefer a professionally printed copy, these are available at £2.50 each and can be ordered (along with any other Society published book) from our website.

June 2023 Update
Member meeting – Our AGM and Spring meeting took place on May 10th and we were entertained to a very interesting talk on the history of Fleet Pond from the 12th to 20th Century by Colin Gray who was the Chairman of the Fleet Pond Society for 20 years.
Front Garden Awards - Judging for this will take place between July and August when judges will be walking around the whole of Hartley Wintney village and as last year, there will be a prize for the most enchanting front gardens.
Village Festival – Saturday June 10th. The Society will be present again at the festival this year and we look forward to meeting visitors to our stand between 12-5pm. Our appreciation goes to those members who have volunteered to help on the day. All of the Society's published books will be available to purchase at the Festival including the recntly published 2023 Journal.
Our thanks also go to everyone who has purchased a copy of the new "Then and Now" books on the village and we are delighted to announce that £400 from the profits of these book sales has now been given to the Hartley Wintney Community Care Group.
Annual Subscriptions 2023-2024 – We appreciate the many members who have already renewed their membership, If you have not yet done this payment by bank transfer is preferred or alternatively cheques made payable to HWHS and renewal can be made at the Festival.

May 2023 Update

The History of Fleet Pond From the 12th to 20th Century
David Turver from WeHeartHart will also provide an update on any latest news related to Shapley Heath

New Publications – The 2 new books that we announced last month - Then and Now photos of Hartley Wintney's Buildings and Landscape showing how these have changed from the nineteenth or early twentieth centuries can also be purchased using the PUBLICATIONS tab above.
Annual Subscriptions 2023-2024– Members have been contacted by email requesting payment of their subscription of £6.00. If you have not yet done so, payment by bank transfer is preferred or alternatively cheques made payable to HWHS. Renewal payments can also be made at our AGM.
